About SafeTrade Media

SafeTrade Media is an independent media platform founded by Viktor Söderlund in February 2024, dedicated to documentation, transparency, and public access to verifiable information.

The goal is to ensure that public information is truly public—and that the evidence underpinning important decisions is available for all to see. Backed by an official Swedish publishing license, the platform has constitutional protection as a legally recognized news publisher.

Our mission is clear: to make first-hand public records—documents that are legally public but often difficult to obtain—accessible to everyone.

We gather, verify and publish primary source material such as:

meeting minutes

archival documents

legal filings

board records

financial reports

other public documents held behind practical or institutional barriers

By organising and contextualising these materials, SafeTrade Media supports journalists, researchers, policymakers and the general public in understanding the structures, decisions and narratives that shape cultural and institutional environments.

Our work is guided by three principles:

1. Factual integrity – relying on verifiable primary sources.

2. Accessibility – transforming hard-to-reach public records into open resources.

3. Transparency – strengthening accountability through documentation.

From the Founder

Prior to SafeTrade Media, I co-founded Trygg Handel AS in 2009, a fraud-prevention service focused on investigating and publishing reports on misleading billing practices and alleged scam actors.

My work is aligned with my core values. I believe that truth is liberating, and that with better information, we can make better decisions.

In 2014, while living in Thailand, I was convicted for my involvement in a crime that stemmed from profoundly poor judgment. I have spoken about this chapter openly, including in the documentary Inget Paradis (No Paradise) by Sara Olsson and Fabian Sigurd.

My actions contributed to circumstances that led to another person’s death and I accept full responsibility for the role I played. If I hadn't made those choices, a man would still be alive. I will live with the weight of those decisions for the rest of my life.

My seven years in the Thai prison system became a period of deep introspection and personal change, centered on philosophy, self-development, and the work of confronting and processing responsibility, guilt, and forgiveness.

That time fundamentally reshaped how I understand the world — and my place in it. Out of that transformation came a renewed professional purpose: to make truth accessible, evidence visible, and information verifiable. Having personally been portrayed inaccurately provided direct insight into how truth can be distorted, motivating my work to make information more accessible and verifiable.

Today, my work centers on document-driven journalism. I follow paper trails, analyze governance structures, and surface the stories that exist within public records. My investigation into the power struggles surrounding the legacy of Hilma af Klint is one such example — a project grounded entirely in making primary source material available to the public. You can learn more about the case and about my work for the cause in the documentary Hilma af Klints Förbannelse (Hilma af Klint’s Curse) by Jesper Huor.
